Tengkorak Hasil Kayau Zaman Dahulu

Ini adalah beberapa koleksi foto-foto tengkorak hasil kayau Orang Dayak zaman dahulu:

Skull covered in tin foil, purchased in 1884 by the Museum Volkenkunde Leiden. Skull is covered with pieces of tin, in which several red spirals have been scraped, and on the forehead a flower with four leaves. The eyes had been replaced by shell plates, and the teeth had been replaced by pieces of wood. On top two holes had been drilled, in which a rope had been laced up.

Tengkorak yang diukir, disimpan di museum Volkenkunde Leiden

Skull, which got in the collection from the Museum Volkenkunde Leiden in 1883. Before 1883 it was in the collection of the “Kabinet van Zeldzaamheden”. Skull is covered with tin foil, in which had been cut out figures of crescents, circles and spirals. The eyes had been replaced with little yellow mica plates, the nose and teeth had been replaced with woodpieces. On top of the skull a hole had been drilled, in which rope had been laced up, decorated with blue, yellow and white beads. The skull is veiled with a little cap of zigzag braided ratan, red, with an uncoloured ornament of triangles, spirals and stars.

Tengkorak yang merupakan koleksi Museum Volkenkunde Leiden pada tahun 1883. Sebelum tahun 1883, tengkorak ini merupakan koleksi “Kabinet van Zeldzaamheden”. Tengkorak ini dilapisi lapisan timah tipis, yang diukir motive bulan sabit, bulat dan spiral. Matanya telah diganti dengan plat mika kuning, sedangkan hidung dan gigi telah diganti dengan potongan kayu. Bagian atas tengkorak telah dibolongi, dan dipasang sebuah tali yang dihiasi dengan manik-manik berwarna biru, kuning dan putuh. Tengkorak ini ditutupi dengan sedikit anyaman rotan zigzag, dengan ornament tak berwaran berbetuk segitiga, spiral dan bintang.

Tengkorak, koleksi museum Volkenkunde Leiden. Tengkorak ini berasal dari pemberian Aernout pada tahun 1890. Tengkorak ini ditemukan pada suatu tiang di Kalimantan Tenggara (Sekarang mungkin masuk Kalimantan Tengah)

Skull from the Nusantara Museum collection in Delft. Apo Kayan, legacy of M. Piers. This photo had been taken in the Nusantara Museum in 2010 and is very unsharp unfortunately. The skull had been mounted in wood with human hair and two boar teeth; Skulls like these, captured during headhunting, were placed in the longhouses on a “skull rack”; Because of fire smoke this skull is blackened; A small bamboo container and two ratan balls indicate it to be a male’s skull

Tengkorak dari Museum Nusantara di Delft. Apo Kayan. Foto ini diambil di Museum Nusantara olej M.Piers tahun 2010 namun sayang kurang tajam. Tnegkorak ini di gantung pada sebuah kayu dengan rambut manusia dan dua buah taring babi. Tengkorak semacam ini didapat dari hasil memburu kepala, dan kemudian ditaru di rumah panjang pada sebuah rak khusus tengkorak; yang kemudian karena asap dari tempat memasak menjadi berwarna hitam. Sebuah wadah bambu kecik dan dua bola rotan menunjukan ini adalah tengkorak laki-laki.
